the Parents DVD |
Extras:
- Spotlight
on Location: Documentary that goes into detail on the premise
of the movie. Goes chronologically through most of the movie with
voice-overs and cast/crew interviews spliced in. Also talks about
the cast and crew's feelings about working together. (24 minutes).
- Commentary
with Director Jay Roach and Editor Jon Poll: Really hits on
the technical details of the movie. The filming schedule, the
sets, the plot, the characters-- everything is covered and is
fairly detailed. This is a good contrast to the other commentary
that is on the DVD. A little dry, but if you're interested in
the details it's perfect.
- Commentary
with cast members Robert DeNiro and Ben Stiller and Director Jay
Roach and Producer Jane Rosenthal: The commentary is Ben and
Jay together and Robert and Jane together. They are in seperate
studios in real time, so members in the opposite studio can talk
to members in the other studio. Seems way too casual. No real
technical details about the movie are exposed, and it is mostly
small talk by the players. DeNiro never talks unless someone asks
him a question, and then it seems like he doesn't want to talk--
keeping comments extremely short. Apart from Bob, Stiller and
Roach make 99% of the comments, and Rosenthal talks almost less
than DeNiro. Overall comments are mostly over the characters;
if lines were scripted or improvised, and explanations of why
lines, scenes, or certain elements were used or not.
- Deleted
Scenes: 2 deleted scenes from the movie, with or without commentary
by director Jay Roach and editor Jon Poll.
- Outtakes:
Long collection of outtakes. Shows DeNiro screwing up and laughing
mostly, which is not very funny at all, but it does have some
funny scenes with Stiller. (11:30 minutes).

if you are trustworthy.
