| Zero Effect
(1998) |
Shawn
Master of detachment
Daryl Zero (Pullman) is the best private eye on Earth. No overexaggeration,
he is the best. He starts on a blackmail case and we are introduced
to his very precise skills of observation, through his occasional
voiceovers, and his interaction with his associate (Stiller). On
this specific case his detached nature is tested when he becomes
involved with the woman he is investigating. Movie is slow paced
but very satisfying and it gets better and better as it progresses.
It has a really intelligent story and the level of detail that Zero
gets from his observations is really cool. This one was written
and directed by Lawrence Kasdan's son Jake, and you can tell the
good filmmaking genes got passed down to him. This is a hidden gem.
