Willow (1988)

Val stuck in a cage "You can't leave me in here to die, not when all I want to do is protect her."

JB: Willow (Davis) is sent on a quest to find baby Daikini (Billy Barty), one of those sacred, blessed, allegorical kinds of kids. This one (Barty) is destined to destroy Queen Bad-Bad-Leroy-Bavmorda. Along the way he meets Madmartigan (Kilmer) and Joanne Whalley (Kilmer) who assist in the madcap fun. Ron Howard directs, George Lucas executive produces, kids cry and have nightmares. Whalley-Kilmer gets my vote for "best looking actress in a helmet" of the '80's (unless you count those huge metal earmuffs Fisher wore in Return of the Jedi). Good fun for 13+.

Shawn: "I stole the baby!!!" Had to put that in there just because I used to quote lines from this movie all the time. And well just because I'm also a freak. One of my favorites growing up, I still really enjoy watching this movie. One of only a handful of fantasy movies that is legitimately good, Willow combines swordplay, magic, and mythic characters together to treat us to an adventurous fable. Humorous interplay between all the main characters also makes this movie fun to watch. And with Willow now finally out on DVD we can all see it in style.
