Timecop (1994)

Van Damme dodges electrocution with his trademark splits maneuver. Ouch.

JB: Can I just once again mention that Mia Sara is absolutely beautiful?

Shawn: Sure.

JB: Thanks. Van Damme plays specially trained Timecop who goes back in time to prevent bad guy politician type (Silver in a brilliantly eee-vil performance) from altering history. Jean Claude, because this has a happy ending, can also save his wife (Sara) who was killed by a tragic explosion. Van Damme busts his way through the film with gusto, which is what he's best at. Hyams, making up for Stay Tuned, fills this flick with well-done futuristic space-bending effects and Jean Claude does splits on the counter. If you didn't see that in a preview, where have you been? Based on a Dark Horse comic (the movie, not the splits).

Shawn: Considering this is a Van Damme flick, it is surprisingly good. In fact it might be his best. Or maybe it's just the fact that we get to see Mia Sara in the buff. That sure is a plus. The movie contains good acting and the story is well done. I don't get it. Van Damme movies are supposed to suck, but this one doesn't. Watch this movie. Be amazed.
