Three Men and a Baby (1987)

Shawn: You know the story of this one. Overburdened mother dumps baby off at the father's apartment. The father (Ted Danson) and roommates (Tom Selleck, Steve Guttenberg) then have to take care of her. They of course know nothing about babies, so comedy and cute moments should ensue. The problem is that the only funny scenes are provided by Tom Selleck. On the hole, most of the movie feels kind of flat, and if Selleck wasn't in the movie it would probably suck. I give Tom Selleck two stars, a half for Danson, and nothing for you, Guttenberg.

JB: Yeah, but I know I saw Shawn cry at the end. This is the sequel to Short Circuit, except the robot has somehow mutated into a HORRIBLE HUMAN BABY!! No, actually the mutant is Steve Guttenberg. This movie does indeed have cute moments, and is quite comedic throughout. Ted Danson does his best acting since he last played Sam (from Cheers). Every time someone walked into his apartment I thought I was supposed to yell "Norm". But I got some looks for doing that. Maybe it's because it's 2001 now, but the "I-can't-do-anything-with-this-baby" gag doesn't seem to appeal as much anymore. But hey, Tom Selleck. 3 stars.

Shawn: Crying? I had something in my eye.
