Glover, Costner, Glenn and Kline
confronting the Old West. |
JB
Still one of
the best westerns ever made, Kasdan's epic of the adventures of
four men traveling westward, played masterfully by Kline, Glenn,
Glover, and Costner. Combining beautiful panoramic scenery, snappy
one-liners, and masterful western direction in a simple and engaging
plot. Has a few slow moments, but never misses the point. Kline
and Costner's one liners keep you on your toes, as well as the quick
John Cleese role. Almost, and should have, won Oscars for Best Sound
and Score, and has my vote for Best Cast. Dennehey, Fahey, and Goldblum
also shine as no-gooders. But one question, where is the dog (see
also Sequel).
