| Romeo Must
Die (2000) |
 |
Jet Li steps into the ring for
the final confrontation. |
Shawn
After seeing
Exit Wounds, and now Romeo
Must Die, I'm excited to see what is next for Bartkowiak. Bart
has a way with the action scenes in his movies, giving them a really
flashy style. This usually will detract from his story telling (which
is a good thing). You'll notice that many plot holes will pop up
in Romeo, but it's no biggie. The pure style makes up for
the story shortcomings. The basic story deals with a racial gang
war, and Jet Li out for revenge after his brother is killed. Movie
implements Li's martial arts skills liberally, since his acting
and English skills are still developing. Strong suit acting wise
is surprisingly Aaliyah, who adds great personality to the film.
Exit Wounds and this make a great butt-kicking combo for
Bart.
