Poltergeist (1982)

Shake on it Little girl say hello to the "tv people."

Shawn

I'm almost tempted to give this movie 4 stars, that's how much I enjoy it. This is up there on my list of favorite horror/thrillers. Crafted masterfully by Tobe Hooper, it's a wonder why this movie is so good and all his others are so bad (minus Chainsaw Massacre). The fact that Spielberg is attached to this one might make the difference. Poltergeist says it all, as a family living in a typical suburban house is suddenly and violently plagued by a poltergeist that has taken over their house and lives. It seems innocent at first when the family is entertained by objects strangely moving around the house by themselves, but then when their youngest child is abducted into another dimension of sorts, it's no longer amusing. Natural acting and directing of the movie is really well done, making it easy to forget you're actually watching a movie. This also works well to amplify the creapiness (turning out the lights adds to this too). With the amount of horror movies out there and the fact that about 99% of them are pure crap, it's a shame that there can't be more out there like Poltergeist. Alright, I give in... Four Stars!

Movie paved the way for Craig T. Nelson to star in such movie classics as Action Jackson.
