Falls under that category of movies that I really like but can't really pinpoint the certain quality that makes me like them so much. Vann (Owen Wilson) travels the country, as a whisper in the wind, traveling where he fancies. A mellow, unviolent man, he also kills people by poisoning them. Vann's calm demeanor on the outside is contrasted by his philosophy on life revealed by a voice-over and by strange visions he has. We get to know him better when he finds a small town he likes, moves into a room rented out by an older couple, becomes their friend, and settles down for a while. The movie has a slow, mesmerizing style and a unique telling of the story that makes it a nice change from the ordinary.
