Shawn: I can't deny this one a good rating. Although I've seen this movie so much that I've gotten sick of it, I remember why I watched it so much in the first place. Incredible action scenes and a good story make this one a winner. Neo, played by actor extraordinare Keanu Reeves, is a computer hacker. He is the "chosen one," or so he is told by top hacker Morpheus (Fishburne). He is awakened to the real world by Morpheus so that he can save the human race from a life of captivity by the machines (yes this is in the future). If nothing else this movie is great to watch just for the physics defying karate action, and to marvel at Keanu's amazing acting abilities. "Whoao"... Is one of the movies included under JB's infamous category of "Love Wins!" movies.

JB: Yes indeed love wins... but does that really make up for having Keanu Reeves in it? Still leaning between 3 and 3 ½ stars, I set out undaunted on this review. An exquisite eye-candy film, full of state-of-the-art, never-been-done-before, how-many-more-cliches-do-you-want action and special effects sequences, that falls short everywhere else. Characters are complete flaws, uninteresting and vacuous. Dialogue is laughable where it probably shouldn't be. And did I mention it had Keanu Reeves? Ugh. At least he found a role where pasty white is in. But it's really hard to get past the fine action filming, production (is there anything Silver can't do), and a really really (and I mean really) good soundtrack. If I'm in the Matrix, can I get those shades to stay on my face?
