| Godfather,
The (1972) |
 |
"I never wanted this for
you." |
Shawn
I always have
such a hard time writing reviews for good movies, and The Godfather
in many people's minds is one of the best movies ever made. Where
do I start? Great story... check. Great acting... check. Great directing...
check. Great everything. Dealing with the life of a Mafia crime
family, the Corleones, The Godfather is an epic on a different
scale. It's an epic in that so many characters are introduced and
so much turmoil is produced, that the viewer becomes part of the
life of this Corleone family. When I watch this movie, I get sucked
into the story, and I'm captivated by every part of it - even when
it's a three hour long movie. I'm anxiously anticipating what happens
next at each turn, and since so much happens during the course of
the movie, I can't even remember what comes next, even after seeing
the movie several times before. I suppose that's why I'm giving
the movie the highest rating possible- because I'm so impressed
that a three hour long movie can keep my attention, and keep me
hanging on every word and action. The movie is followed by Part
II, which I think is even better than the first.
