JB: Bored Kiefer Sutherland decides to find out if there's life after death. His four buddies (Roberts, Baldwin 3, Platt, and (woohoo) Bacon) follow in his footsteps. And they all bring something back. Great cast, great acting, lots of whining, at least for a while. Eerie lighting, shifting colors, and masterful filming by Schumacher make this movie entertaining. Suspenseful until everybody's bad dreams start catching up with them and it turns a little less edgy. Nonetheless well-paced and involving. And don't forget the moral: Never pick on anyone ever again! Note also Douglas as producer and de Bont as photography director... more reasons to like this movie.

Shawn: One question I have about this movie. What kind of messed up hospital are they training at? Looks like a cross between a gothic church and a dungeon. I suppose it's just made spooky looking to establish the tone of the movie, and it does work well to create the dark feel, but please, be a little less obvious. The movie includes great character interaction, spooky plot lines, and great suspense. No big complaints from me, other than the Julia Roberts' lips close-ups. AAAAhhhhh!! Scary!
