"In town you're the law.
Out here it's me. Don't push it. Don't push it or I'll give
you a war you won't believe." |

Shawn:
Although JB will probably chastise me for doing so, I'm giving this
a high rating, because it does deserve it. Although some of the
acting isn't exactly stellar (particularly Richard Crenna's) the
action is, and the consistently quick pacing keeps the movie compelling.
Stallone keeps the grunting to a minimum, although he's still hard
to understand when he talks, but at least he doesn't talk that much.
If you've never seen the movie, which is hard to understand since
it's always on TBS, the story deals with a Vietnam Vet, John Rambo,
who wanders into a small town as a drifter. The Sheriff there doesn't
like what he sees, and when he forces Rambo out of town and Rambo
doesn't obey, all hell breaks loose, as one man army Rambo gets
pushed to the limits.
JB: Ah
the Superstation Sunday film (movies for guys who like movies who
have guys in the movies, or something). I admire Stallone for working
so hard to make his movies believable. Fortunately I was able to
see this movie in a well-lighted area, elsewise you couldn't see
a damn thing. Decent storyline with great performances by Brian
Dennehey and David Caruso.
Shawn:
David Caruso?
JB: I
mean Richard Crenna.
Shawn:
Richard Crenna?
JB: Alright,
alright...
Shawn:
Substantially better than the two sequels that followed. Characters
and story got replaced by plastic muscles and massive grunting in
those two.
JB: Yeah
but he doesn't come out of the mud in this one. That's classic.
