Die Hard (1988)

Bruce Willis as tv dinner

"Come out to the coast, we'll get together, have a few laughs..."

Shawn: "Welcome to the party pal!" This is one of my all time favorite movies. It's also one of those select few that I repeat every line of dialogue from. It's most well known for being the one movie that's been copied the most. Speed was Die Hard on a bus.

JB: And Speed 2 was Die Hard on a boat. Air Force One and Passenger 57 were Die Hard on airplanes. Die Hard 2 was Die Hard in an airport. And Mad City was just plain hard (to watch).

Shawn: Um. Anyway. It all stems from the terrorist story line. John McClane (Bruce Willis) is invited to a Christmas party in L.A. where his wife works. He just happens to be a New York cop, and when a group of terrorists storm the building to steal a whole butt-load of bonds, McClane is ready to fight back. Includes some of the most intense moments captured on film, and McTiernan directs the action masterfully. The movie includes the best performance ever by Alan Rickman as Hans Gruber, the lead terrorist. Also includes a cameo by Huey Lewis (not really but you'll know what I'm talking about when you see the movie). This is the definitive action movie. The first "terrorist movie" and still the best.

JB: This movie lacks nothing. The movie that all other action movies should be based on. Dialogue was crisp and entertaining, plot lines had no holes, unnecessary characters were quickly disposed of, and Bruce Willis is in it. This, future directors, is the secret to your success (not the Michael J. Fox movie). This movie is consistent, fast-paced, engaging, and has the best bad guy ever. I can't recommend a better action movie. Should make every Top 100 list you see. If it doesn't, don't trust the reviewer.
