Shawn:
Deals with a town populated almost exclusively by cops, thus "Copland."
The only problem about this little town is that all the cops who
live there are corrupt and the only one who will stand up to these
dirty cops, is of course, a fat Stallone. Along with Stallone, the
movie includes just about every bad-ass in Hollywood, minus Joe
Pesci. The one thing that stands out about this movie is Stallone's
performance. He delivers an understated performance that really
makes you understand his character's actions and feelings. It's
nothing that is really Oscar worthy, but still, it's surprising.
Watch the movie just to see that fat and bloated or musclebound
buff, Stallone kicks ass either way. (Refer to Demolition Man).
JB: Are
you saying Annabella Sciorra has a bad ass? I thought it looked
just fine, especially next to Stallone. For all of you wondering,
the crash Twinkie diet to gain 20 pounds for a movie role is NOT
endorsed by the NIH. Stallone plays Fred Heflin, a partially deaf
sheriff of highly-populated town. By highly populated, I mean every
movie star ever. Deniro (Tilden) comes to town, hot on the heels
of a race crime, which attempts to be covered up (as everything
else was beforehand) by the NYPD. Stallone suddenly decides to help.
Why? Deniro promised ding-dongs, that's why. Good acting and unpredictable
script covers for this movie's somewhat slow pacing.
Shawn:
You are confusing the use of bad-ass. Just look in the mirror -
that will give you an idea of what I'm not talking about.
JB: Ooh.
That was witty. Did you have to write that one on your hand again?
