| Clear and
Present Danger (1994) |
JB
Ford returns
as Jack Ryan for the third installment of the Clancy series. After
successfully rebuking both Russian and Irish subgroups in the previous
two films, Noyce decides to expose our own evils here in the old
US of A. After a vicious slaying, Ryan discovers a link between
a drug cartel and one of the president's chums. Ryan sets out to
uncover the "conspiracy", and expose everyone (except himself).
Surprisingly complex plot weaves between special ops footage and
interoffice bantering, all without missing a beat. Also has one
of the most terse and exhilaratingly shot action scenes ever, which
will make you stray from alleyways for some time. I would have given
this movie four stars, but they killed off James Earl, and you just
can't do that to me. Watch for small roles by that guy from Ally
MacBeal (you know, the weird one) and a ripe 14-year old Thora
Birch (can I say ripe? Go Dungeons and Dragons!).
