Duvall plays
a Texas preacher, Eulis Dewey, on the lamb for smiting his fellow
minister (Allen). Evidently, this Minister had been coveting, and
laying his hands on, Eulis's wife (Fawcett). After doing his best
Griffey Jr. impression on the minister's cranium, Eulis takes off
to Louisiana where he begins a new ministry, until his past resurrects
to find him. Impressively written, acted, and directed by Duvall.
Also one of the best character studies I have seen, and a soul-searching
look at a man's desire for redemption. Won many independent awards.
Watch out for Billy Bob Thorton operating heavy machinery.
