Almost Famous (2000)

Sister saying goodbye to William "One day... You'll be cool."

Shawn

Kind of an autobiographical story of Cameron Crowe's experiences as a rock and roll writing kid for Rolling Stone Magazine. The Almost Famous story centers around William, a young aspiring journalist that starts writing about rock and roll as a hobby, and when his writing gets noticed, Rolling Stone Magazine gives him a call and hires him to write about a band called Stillwater, not knowing that he's only fifteen. The movie follows him along on his cross-country journey with Stillwater while he grows up each step of the way. Great character piece that shows off the '70's rock and roll music, lifestyle, and personalities. Good performances by all the actors, especially Williams "freaky" Mom who means well played by Frances McDormand, and Kate Hudson is a charismatic treat as the lead groupie, or more preferably called band-aid. Extensive use of Led Zeppelin throughout the movie is an added bonus.
